Michail Sykianakis’ PreSpring Resort 2017 collection defies gravity. Inspired by modern architecture’s use of suspension where buildings appear to float in the air, Sykianakis has reinterpreted the geometric lines of steel bridges and futuristic constructions into silk creations of astonishing grace.

The collection’s theme of suspension emphasizes the precarious balance between gravity and fluidity. The resulting designs evoke images of supple acrobats, hanging by silken thread, amid thousands of soft-hued flowers hovering in spectacular beauty between earth and sky.

The Michail Sykianakis Autumn/Winter 2016 collection draws its inspiration from the butterfly. Its complex shape—bold angles giving way to gentle curves pays tribute to the female form.

Sheer accents take wing over an array of fabrics--some a study in muted elegance; others, all shimmer and shine. A color palette of deep fern green and sun-kissed bronze mirror the butterfly’s natural environment. Moulage draping creates fluttering shadows and highlights across the body,creating a beautiful vision of indomitable grace.
